Staying motivated in the workplace can be a daunting task. There are days when you feel energetic and there are days when you just don’t have the drive. Don’t Think Of It As Hard Work
When a project comes along, do not consider it as hard work but instead as a component of the career path that you want to take. When you are doing a project, do not think about it as difficult. You might experience some frustrations along the way but when you think of it as hard work, the less motivated you will become. Make hard look easy and you will surely get the drive to complete the project.
Create Small, Bite-Sized Goals
When a project seems daunting, you often wonder how you will be able to finish it. Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that the best way to deal with projects of huge proportions is to break them down to smaller and manageable tasks. Rather than focusing on a large scary goal, take it one project at a time. The advantage of this is that you will be able to track your progress and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Squeeze time in your day to read. Spend at least an hour a day for reading. If that’s too much, you can start with 20 minutes for one month. Think of reading as the quickest way to success. Stop Caring About the Things That Don’t Matter
Doing things that does not mean anything can drain a lot of your mental energy. Check your to-do list and look for things that you do not care about. Get rid of as many of these activities as possible. Leave out only those things that matters most to your job.
Set a Quit Time
Aside from their 8 to 5 schedule in their jobs, entrepreneurs spend additional hours checking emails and checking Skype which jacks up their work day to 24 hours. To stay motivated for work, recognize the time when enough is enough. Set a realistic quit time. As much as possible, take the weekends off. This will make you more refreshed and more productive at the start of the work week.
