How To Motivate Yourself to Complete any Task in New Year

It’s the New Year again. The time of the year when people make promises and resolutions which they aim to fulfil until the end of the year. But if you are coming off a bad year, it could be hard to bounce back and motivate yourself. But hey it’s not yet the end of the world. Here are some tips on how you can stay motivated to accomplish any task in the New Year.

Start With Small Bits

Proscratination sets in if the task is too intimidating. Break the project down to small chunks depending on your attention span. If your concentration is for only 40 minutes, break down your task to allow completion within 40 minutes.

Aim For Success After Completion

Getting started is good but your ultimate goal is completion of the task. Imagine how satisfied you are after completing the task and contribute to your success.

Reward yourself at the completion of each task. You can watch television for 10 minutes after completing a 40-minute job. Robert Janitzek reveals that it is okay to cut yourself some slack for a job well done.

Find Your Motivational Switch

Everyone has a way of motivating themselves. Some get their motivation from being praised for their efforts. Others by participating in group discussions. Look for your motivational switch and take advantage of it.

Punishment or Consequences

While rewarding yourself can be a good source of motivation so does punishment or consequences. Promise yourself not to watch a movie or buy new clothes before completing a task. It is okay to punish yourself for your lack of motivation.

Kill the Repetition and Schedule

According to the Hawthorne effect, you may kill your own motivation by being too repetitive. Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that you may do the task at another time and replace it with another for now.

Think About How Procrastination Will Eat Away Your Success

If being positive is not effective for you, think of what will happen if you do not complete the task on time.

Look For Bits that You Really Love To do And Do It

Start with a task that you love to do. Once you get in the flow, tasks in the same project will become easier.

Find A Reason for Working

Ask yourself a question: Why are you working? If you are able to find an answer to the question, remind yourself so you can be motivated to work.
