Tips on How You Can Manage Work-Related Stress

The office is a place where you can encounter a lot of stress—deadlines, meetings, traffic, and others. Learning how to handle stress can go a long way in ensuring that you will be able to accomplish your task. Here are 5 ways you can get rid of stress and have a great day.

Do some morning reflection & intention

When you wake up in the morning, start your day with a few deep breaths. Try listening to some relaxing music or read an inspirational passage for some positive inspiration. Make meditation & exercise part of your daily habit.

Set a simple intention that you want to accomplish for the day. It could be staying focused during a meeting, connecting with a colleague, or focus on improving your attitude about a work issue.

Remove outside distractions

Upon arrival at work, give yourself time to settle in first. One way to get rid of stress in the workplace is to remove external forces that can distract you from doing your task for the day. Take a deep breath before buckling down to work. Check your list and see what tasks you were not able to accomplish the previous day and add it to your to-do list.

Maximize your breaks to recharge

Since you have a limited time for your break, maximize it with a conscious approach. If you have been sitting on your computer for a long time, move around a bit. Do some stretching to keep your blood flowing. As you exercise to get rid of stress, think of some mantra or affirmation. Be aware of the food that you will eat as it could drain your energy.

Mid-Day stress buster

The last third of your workday can kill whatever motivation you still have. At this time of the day, the tasks can be too daunting which can be a source of stress. If this is the case, shake things up a bit and take your mind off your work first. Calm down your mind first with relaxing music. Take a few deep breaths.

Review your to-do list

Before leaving work, check out your to-do list one more time. To get rid of stress, evaluate the situation without being hard on yourself. There is nothing wrong with putting off a task for the next day. You are in control of things and have the ability to make things easier for you the next day.

Stress is common in the workplace so you need to learn how to deal with it. Take these tips into mind and you can accomplish what needs to be done.
